Here are some of our favorite places to visit and things to do. We hope you enjoy them too while you are vacationing on the Mayan Riviera.
Swimming with the Whale Sharks
Swim with the Ocean's largest fish in the pristine, crystal-blue waters of the Caribbean near Cancun. Whale sharks are harmless, gentle fish which enjoy their interaction with people who swim with them.

Cenotes
A cenote is an underground system of limestone caverns that are filled with fresh water and incoming sea water at the bottom. The Cenotes on the Yucatan peninsula form the largest underground river system in the world and are a wonderful location for activities such as snorkeling, diving, exploration or just swimming in the crystal clear waters that were considered as sacred by the Mayans.
Driving south pn the highway between Playa and Tulum you cannot miss the numerous signs on the side of the road indicating the entrances to the many different cenotes.
One of our favorites is called Cristalino and is located about 20 km from Playa, just before Xpu-ha.
Akumal- Akumal is a small community south of Playa del Carmen where you can snorkel and you may even see a turtle or two.
Xcaret- Only 10 km from Playa del Carmen, 10 minutes by taxi. Xcaret is an eco-theme park offering many activities to enjoy such as; snorkeling in the underground rivers, swimming with dolphins, visiting the Mayan village and the unique mausoleum, or Mayan ruins.
Yal Ku Lagoon- for excellent snorkeling. It is one of the protected sites in the Mayan Riviera, people are asked not to use lotion in the water (wear T shirts instead). It resembles an out door aquarium, abundant in marine life, the lagoon is a combination of fresh water from underground rivers and salt water from the ocean.
Xel-Ha- Xel-Ha is a lagoon/aquatic theme park that offers a wonderful diving or snorkeling opportunity for those with less experience.
Xpu-Ha- Great beach to visit.
Paamul- Another great beach to visit.
Tulum- Tulum is a small village about an hour south of Playa del Carmen. There are some wonderful Mayan ruins worth visiting and we love to have lunch in town at one of the local restaurants. If you turn left and the main stop light you can explore some of the beautiful beaches near the hotel zone.
